A Legacy Built on the World's Best

Kenworth's story begins in 1923, when Harry Kent and Edgar Worthington set out to solve a problem nobody else could: hauling heavy loads down the tight, rugged logging roads of the Pacific Northwest. Their answer was a truck as tough as the people driving it. Over 100 years later, that same philosophy still drives every Kenworth built.

From producing the first American diesel-powered truck in the 1930s, to pioneering the raised-roof sleeper cab in the 1970s, Kenworth has spent a century setting standards the rest of the industry follows. The iconic W900, the aerodynamic T600, the capable T800 - each one a milestone in trucking history.

In 1968, Kenworth came to Australia, establishing a plant in Bayswater and cementing their presence in the southern hemisphere. That commitment to getting boots on the ground, understanding local conditions, and building trucks that perform in the real world has never changed.

Today, Kenworth continues to lead with the Next Generation T680, advanced electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and a lineup built for every application imaginable.

As part of the PACCAR family alongside DAF and Peterbilt, Kenworth represents over a century of proven performance. Southpac Trucks is proud to bring that legacy to New Zealand.
