Some people leave a mark on an industry. Warwick Wilshier has shaped one.
With roots that run deep in forestry — his grandfather ran a native sawmill — Warwick's connection to the land and the logs that come from it goes back further than most. He started as a truck owner operator in 1982, and from those early days behind the wheel, built a career that would eventually see him recognised as one of New Zealand's most influential figures in transport.
For 20 years, Warwick served as Chairman of the Log Transport Safety Council, dedicating himself to making log transport safer for drivers, operators and everyone sharing New Zealand's roads. It's the kind of contribution that doesn't happen overnight — it's built through decades of showing up, speaking up, and never losing sight of what matters.
In 2020, that contribution was formally recognised when Warwick was inducted into the New Zealand Transport Hall of Fame — a fitting tribute to a man whose impact on the industry is immeasurable.
In this video, we go behind the scenes at off-highway logging transport and hear Warwick's story firsthand — how it all began, what drives him, and his special long-standing relationship with Kenworth.
It's a story of legacy, leadership and a life well lived on the road.
